Wine Advocate 93 points - The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a very beautiful wine that shows a fraction of good things to come. Very fruit-driven at the moment, it should flesh out further with time. Evident fruit underlines the warm growing conditions of this vintage. You get dark cherry, raspberry, dried strawberry and plum. The bouquet doesn’t feel overripe per se, but you definitely get a taste of the warm growing season. Delve deeper, and this Brunello begins to reveal spice, herb, cola, tar and black licorice. These elements form the base of the wine’s budding complexity. As nice as this wine is to drink now, I look forward to trying it five years from now.  (Mar 2016)

The Ciacci Piccolomini dAragona estate, whose origins date back to the 17th century, produces some of Italys most highly regarded wines. In 1985, estate manager Giuseppe Bianchini inherited the property from Countess Elda Ciacci Piccolomini dAragona, who had no heirs. Today, his children, Paolo and Lucia Bianchini, continue making excellent Brunellos in the tradition of their father, who died in 2004. The 85 acre estate in the prized Castelnuovo dellAbate zone includes the famed Pianrosso site. The vineyards are located between Poggio dArna and the Orcia River on the southwest side of Montalcino at an altitude of 787 to 1,181 feet. Organic fertilizers are employed along with double pruning and green harvesting. The Bianchinis own three cellars the ancient Palazzo cellar, the main Molinello cellar and the Santo Stefano cellar, located in Montenero, which is used solely for production of their Montecucco DOC wine. The Ciacci wines all speak of flawless quality and exhibit Tuscan typicity crafted in a modern style.
